It was named after the famous Scottish explorer David Livingstone, who was the first European to set eyes on the magnificent Victoria Falls in 1855. The town served as the capital of Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia) until 1935, and it played a crucial role in the British colonial era. Livingstone also served as a major transportation and trade hub during the colonial period, with the Zambezi River and the railway system facilitating commerce.
Livingstone's history is intertwined with the development of the region's tourism industry due to its proximity to Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Golden Leaf Restaurant started over 20 years ago. As entrepreneurs, we had a vision to give Livingstone visitors a taste of real African hospitality. In building an African themed lodge, we wanted to provide our guests with great food (with taste we enjoyed) and offering a new dining experience. Our restaurant grew to be known as the 'Best Indian restaurant in Zambia" on Tripadvisor as No. 1 or 2, over many years.
The Golden Leaf sits in its own house serving over 20+ tables, with indoor and outside seating for those summer months.
As British Indians, we are also Africans born and raised and thrive to service our community with the best there is - great food, and great service.
The Restaurant sits on the main rood, but away form street noise and surrounded by garden lawn. Parking is free.
